Roy Speckhardt gives an advanced look at his new book Creating Change Through Humanism. He discusses how the modern humanist movement has been at the forefront of such pressing social issues as civil rights, women’s rights, religion-free science, LGBTQ equality, and environmental preservation. Speckhardt has served as executive director of the American Humanist Association since 2005. He is a frequent media commentator, having appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, Fox News, and NPR. He holds an M.B.A. from George Mason University and a B.A. in sociology from Mary Washington College. He currently lives in Washington, DC.
