Alan Evans shares his story of being addicted and homeless at age 13. He tells of his journey over 25 years in turning his life around. Then he had the idea to start programs for people like him. Evans is founder and CEO of Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers, turning a life of lived experience into an opportunity to serve people still experiencing homelessness and addiction in Oregon.
Presentation about industrial pollution by Greg Bourget. Mr. Bourget is Executive Director and Lead Researcher for Portland Clean Air. He has a B.A. in Political Science and has worked in many social justice organizations.
Katie Murray tells of her experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mongolia in the early 2000s, and how that shaped her career supporting natural resource communities in Oregon. Murray is the Executive Director of Oregonians for Food and Shelter.
Presentation by Mel Gurtov. China has given limited support to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Beijing is missing an opportunity to show international leadership -- playing a peacemaking role. The Biden administration also missed an opportunity to get China’s cooperation on Ukraine. Gurtov is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at PSU. He is author of 30 books on China and U.S. foreign policy.
