Presentation by Bernd Dürrwächter. The media abounds with stories about crypto currencies, from claims of miracles to stories of exploitation. This talk finds the middle ground, presenting an overview of what crypto currency is all about. Mr. Dürrwächter has worked in information technology for over 30 years. Most recently, he started a consulting company to provide advice regarding responsible artificial intelligence, and digital literacy on new technology paradigms for business people.
Presentation by Lakayana Drury sharing poetry from his upcoming book. He gives five tips for excellence for Black students and three tips for white students to be allies. Drury is Founder and Director of “Word is Bond”. He is involved with the Hoodies Up event, organized by students to seek solidarity to end systemic racism and racial profiling.
Primates are vocally very limited and most of their calls calls are innate. Yet, from this unpromising background, the most musical animal on Earth evolved. What triggered the explosion and what maintains it? Surprises loom! Orians is Professor Emeritus of Biology, University of Washington. He has served as its Director of Environmental Studies. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1989 and to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1990. His most intensive research area has been behavioral ecology.
Presentation by Kerry Tymchuk about the Oregon Historical Society which was founded in 1898. Mr. Tymchuk is its Executive Director. He is a graduate of Willamette University College of Law and is a four-time champion on the television game show Jeopardy. He has been recognized by the Oregon Business Industry in 2018 as “Oregon Statesman of the Year.”
