Presentation by Rebecca Bryan and Janice Beitz. We inherit our genes. However, this accounts for only 2% of genetic expression. The rest depends on epigenetic influences that inform how immune systems develop. In particular, childhood adversity aligns with risks for wound development and healing. Rebecca Bryan is Director of Professional Development at Rutgers School of Nursing. She is certified in trauma-informed care. Janice Beitz is Professor of Nursing at Rutgers with 45 years of teaching experience. She is board-certified and has received a variety of honors.

Kate Kaufmann gave us a presentation in 2019, after her book “Do You Have Kids? Life When the Answer is No” was published. Today she shares insights about how publishing a book changes both reader and author. Ms. Kaufmann is an advocate for better understanding of the childless demographic. She has an M.F.A. in creative writing and a background in human resources and consulting. Her work has been featured in Psychology Today, the Washington Post, NBC, among other media.
